Are you an experienced Sheet Metal Worker/ Team Leader with experience in manufacturing, engineering or similar? Are you seeking a new role that matches your career development and aspirations? Well, read on. My client has secured some major manufacturing projects and have an orderbook bursting at the seams. They urgently need to fill these new vacancies for Sheet Metal Workers / Team Leaders within their engineering department. (NB – These are shift roles 6-2 & 2-10 or earlies or lates and no weekends.).
Role Profile
This role of Workshop Team Leader will involve responsibility for their team whilst working in a specific production area (for example, machining, fitting etc.) or on a specific product to meet customer requirements. This is a hands-on production role and Working Team Leaders will supervise, guide and motivate their team members on a daily basis to work together and ensure they deliver on production targets and drive quality, promoting a ‘One Team’ Culture across the Site.
(This role is approximately 60% hand-on and 40% as team leader).
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities for the Sheet Metal Worker / Team Leader
Production responsibilities as per their area of expertise and the customer schedule, overseeing the day-to-day operation of their work/product area.
Report out daily efficiency and part count numbers at the Daily Operations Meeting.
Ensure all team members are booked on requisite job and are working to the targeted efficiencies/hours. Challenge all delinquencies to the plan and pro-actively support improvements where required.
Assist the team to implement root cause analysis on non-conforming product.
Participate in daily QC Clinics.
Lead and aid in Completion of 5Y investigations within 24-hour turnaround
Ensure all measuring equipment is within calibration cycle
Supporting training and development of team members.
Ensure attendance of team members at all mandatory training events.
Recognise skill gaps and actively plan required training.
Involvement in team meetings to ensure factory plan is adhered to.
drive a 6S culture within the team whereby everyone assumes responsibility for their area and/or product.
Provide weekly updates on 6s Area improvements.
TPM / Operator asset care checks in area.
Complete weekly EHS self-assessment audit
To ensure safe working and wearing of PPE within the team.
Daily checks with team and safety concern reporting in line with company policy.
Encourage positive EHS culture within manufacturing teams
Ensure all company policies are always communicated and adhered to
assist in the communication of team briefs and other announcements.
Daily updating of the cell SQDIP communication boards.
Delivery of SQDIP board metrics/countermeasures as part of daily GEMBA walk
Completing any necessary paperwork to support business improvements.
Being first point of contact for Team Members and Managers in dealing with section complaints and any outstanding issues.
Recognising high performance and reward accomplishments.
Person Specification for the Sheet Metal Worker / Team Leader positions:

Previous experience of being in a Team Leader position a distinct advantage.
