Principal Buyer

We are recruiting for a Commodity Lead to join our procurement division based in Lincolnshire. We have a fantastic opportunity for an individual to work in a friendly team environment, where full training will be given to the successful candidate. We are looking for someone who is punctual and reliable with excellent attention to detail.
This role will involve carrying out all purchasing activities in the area of strategic materials for which the post-holder is responsible, with a medium to high degree of difficulty and/or larger PV´s, with the objective of optimizing supply and generating a contribution to operating profit while taking into account optimization of the total cost of ownership. For strategic material support KCM to achieve division’s objectives for commodity.
What are my responsibilities?
• Contract and price negotiations for medium to large volumes to contribute to the profitability of the company for operative material. For strategic material support the Global Commodity if necessary.
• Definition of procurement strategies to ensure the long-term, cost-effective supply of materials for operative material. For strategic material support the Global commodity if necessary.
• Implementation of alternative procurement sources to minimize stock replacement times, inventory levels and costs for operative material. For strategic material support the Global commodity if necessary.
• Regular contacts with interface partners to recognize developments (in market, demand, etc.) and exert influence accordingly for operative material. For strategic material support the Global commodity if necessary. Monitoring of the national and international market to bring new suppliers, product derivatives, and product innovations into the purchasing portfolio for operative material. For strategic material support the Global commodity if necessary.
• Producing price forecasts and internal figures to supply basic data for corporate planning (costing data) and reporting for operative material. For strategic material support the Global commodity if necessary.
• Analysis and controlling of contractual agreements to prepare renegotiations/subsequent negotiations, initiate appropriate measures and guarantee supplies for operative material. For strategic material support the Global commodity if necessary.
• Claim management and support expediting for the material in the responsibility of the post-holder.
• Supplier management to gain the best suppliers and guarantee an optimum supply chain for operative material. Conducting and supporting supplier evaluations, performing economical approval for suppliers and initiate supplier development activities. For strategic material support the Global commodity in Supplier Management if necessary.
• Application and drive of innovative methods to streamline the procurement process and to reduce the total cost of ownership in the supply chain, e.g. e-auctions/ biddings, e-net “I” etc., in the post holder’s material field.
• Interdisciplinary working group/project work to inform oneself, exert influence and optimize internal processes and procedures.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
• Extensive experience of various procurement functions
• MCIPS Required
• Degree Qualified or equivalent with Engineering Bias or engineering technical experience.
• Experience of leading a commodity would be extremely beneficial
• You MUST have worked for a technical / engineering business and NOT be from the SERVICE sector
