We are currently recruiting for a permanent Transport Coordinator for our client in Aberdeen. Competitive salary dependent on experience.
Overview
Responsible for transport logistics, skip/container hire operations and route planning for the business.
Key Responsibilities and accountability
*
To work as a member of the waste transport team, undertaking delegated tasks and responsibilities in line with the emerging needs and operational requirements of the service
*
Support planning and allocating routes and vehicles ensuring sufficient flexibility is in place to meet the varying and changing needs of customers.
*
To ensure legal compliance of all driving operations (e.g. Tachographs records and driver’s hours)
*
Ensure that all in house vehicles are compliant with all legal, regulatory and contractual requirements, and where necessary escalating to the Transport Manager.
*
Ensure all drivers adhere to company wheel Torqueing procedures are completed on a weekly basis
*
Ensure vehicle maintenance is kept updated whilst the Transport Manager is on holiday or out of office
*
Highlight and record any driver concerns to the Transport Manager
*
Ensure driving staff deliver the service appropriate to the changing needs of customers in line with relevant guidance and individual risk assessments
*
Support in the resolution of unforeseen problems as they arise escalating to Transport Manager for support and information.
*
To ensure high standards of service delivery through the consistent application of recognised standards and established policies, procedures and practices
*
To operate waste services weighbridge efficiently for both incoming and outgoing vehicles
*
To work in a safe and effective manner at all times
*
To undertake any other duties related to the responsibilities of the post and which may be delegated by the Transport Manager
Qualifications Skills and Education
Qualification
Essential
*
Licence to drive in the UK
*
Good standard of education
Skills
*
Experience in a similar role in the transport sector.
*
Good working knowledge of the company’s service area
*
Good commercial awareness and business acumen.
*
Experience of supervising and directing drivers
*
Able to cope in a pressured working environment e.g. meeting deadlines and problem solving
*
Good written and verbal communication
*
Experience and/or understanding of vehicle maintenance and standards
*
Knowledge of Drivers hours and relevant legislation (e.g. Working Time Directive)
