Transport Coordinator – Evenings / Nights

Salary: £26,400 – £32,400 per year

Our client who is international freight forwarder with warehouses across the country. We are a fast-growing company in freight forwarding industry. With their global network, they manage shipments domestically and internationally. 

They are now recruiting for a full time member of staff to work within their Transport department. The hours are evening’s Monday – Friday 16:00– 22:00 then on call from 22:00-05:00 with an hour lunch/dinner break. Flexibility needed to cover day shits during staff absence/holidays in the office. 

Salary is negotiable depending on experience.

As a Transport Co-Ordinator, the content of the role is as follows:

• Route planning for HGV vehicles 
• Booking in jobs with third party haulers 
• Booking slots for the drivers to collect/shunt containers – VBS system with the port 
• Liaise with relevant contractors and third-party haulers 
• Liaise with the company drivers throughout their shift. 
• Communicate and update with other departments within the company with any delays or cancellations due to staff sickness 
• Book MOT/Service for the vehicles 
• Organise and maintain filing system for transport department paperwork. 
• Follow up on investigations into accidents and incidents as directed by Management. 
• Call in any breakdowns and adjust work of driver to accommodate 
• Conduct minor repairs to the vehicles. Report any defects to relevant contractors to get repaired 
• Sending PODs to the POD department.

Essential Criteria

• Previous experience in transport office. 
• Be able to demonstrate a reasonable degree of IT/PC literacy, especially in respect of Microsoft Excel and Word packages
• Excellent communication and organisation skills
• Knowledge of HGV EU Rules/WTD laws
• Good at problem solving

Desirable Criteria

• HGV class 1 licence or shunters experience for yard movements/preloads.
