New Product Introduction Engineer – NPI Engineer

Salary: £36,000 – £42,000 per year

This exciting opportunity for a New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer is for a strong team player, where you will work closely with design, production and quality to resolve issues, realising effective solutions. You will work in close collaboration with the design engineers to successfully transition prototypes into tested and proven manufactured products ready for market launch.

In this fantastic team working environment, you can develop in-depth skills in design, jigs and tools, assembly techniques, measuring systems and through the training offered, further opportunities across manufacturing in the business, channelling your constructive and valued engineering contribution. You will be a passionate engineer, positive, detail focussed with skills and experience in electro-mechanical manufacturing product launches.

As the NPI Engineer you will be:

• Coordinating activities to transfer new products into production
• Inspect and evaluate first production batch parts (First Article Inspections) using various metrology techniques
• Liaise with design, R&D purchasing and quality to ensure components comply
• Support engineering with prototype build and characterization, measuring, recording, and reviewing results, design and manufacture jigs to improve consistency
• Build the pre-production batch and highlight any design issues,
• Validate BOM’s, create SOP’s, update the MRP system, train production personnel and support once in production if issues occur
• Conduct mechanical tests and analyse results, feeding back improvement ideas and solutions

Required skills and qualities of the NPI Engineer:

• Extensive experience in electro-mechanical engineering manufacturing assembly techniques, taking new products through to successful market release
• Able to read and interpret CAD engineering drawings, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and test results with the ability to problem solve and resolve effectively
• Proven skills in identifying design and assembly issues and then solving the problem with constructive solution
• Knowledge of testing techniques for mechanical / electrical / electronic products
• Strong communication, time management, multi-tasking skills and able to work within the multi-disciplined team. Sound working knowledge of MS Office
