I have a rare opportunity for a senior level Production Manager to join one of the largest metal beverage companies in the UK. They have 4 manufacturing sites across the UK and this opportunity will be based from one of their mother sites in the Chester region. This is a fantastic time to be joining the business. Please note: Applicants will need to have come from a fast paced automated environment. Preferably, Food, Beverage, Packaging, Brewery or FMCG.

Reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager
Job Purpose:
Ensure quality of all manufactured products with the delivery of operational KPI’s. Manage and develop the plant production team, ensure compliance with site management and group directives.
Responsibilities of the Manager:
- Production Lines 1 to 4 operating KPIs including:- Delivery of planned volume, Customer complaint PPM, Line Efficiency, Manufacturing compliance with internal and external audits.
- Overtime & Temporary Labour management (cost)
- Ensure that the production output across all shifts meets relevant Quality standards. Has overall responsibility for the manufacturing process, as such identifies improvements, corrective actions and executes plans to improve internal Quality metrics and reduce customer complaints linked to the manufacturing process.
- Providing downtime focal points for development and improvement to their engineering team.
- Manages actions and plans to improve the key performance indicators of the manufacturing operations on site. Such as asset utilisation, elimination of waste (eg. unplanned stoppages and spoilage). Works closely with the Technical/Engineering Manager to identify and close gaps in performance.
- Leading the morning production meeting and follow-up action review.
- Delivery of scheduled volume output, maximise shift flexibility focused on customer requirements.
- Support height and product variant configuration as required by customers and planning.
- With CI Manager, Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives across the operation
- Direct plant operations team in the manufacture of products in compliance with process and product specifications.
- Review and root cause non-compliance events and identify preventative measures.
- Maintain Quality Standards at all times across all processes, to include utilising information from their quality/manufacturing systems to monitor process reliability and variation.
- Establish and develop effective working relationship with all plant customers (internal and external).
- Implement & Monitor Health & Safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure the plant maintains company housekeeping standards
Requirements:
- Experienced Manager in fast paced industry either the FMCG or Packaging Industry
- Apprentice trained, time serviced engineer is essential
- Degree is desirable but not essential
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate and direct effectively across a 5-shift 24/7, 365 operation to develop teams to achieve consistent results.
- Knowledge of modern manufacturing methodologies and proven application of lean manufacturing techniques.
- Possess a data driven approach to performance management & improvement
- Experience working in an automated environment, fast paced production
- They require a confident leader who can motivate others
- Confident communicator who has strong presenting skills and action orientated
- Be fully competent to use all Microsoft Packages, SAP, Infinity SPC, Apriso and Win CC
Salary and Benefits Package:
- Salary: £73,200 – £79,200
