Our client, a world leading nuclear engineering company, is looking for an Operations & Acceptance Manager.

As the demand for our client’s services grows the requirement has arisen for an Operations & Acceptance Manager responsible for leading and motivating a Storage and Waste Management team to meet operational targets, whilst maintaining a safe & healthy working environment.

As the role matures it will also include the management of the Acceptance and Commissioning of a large waste storage facility.

Key responsibilities would include:

• To lead and manage operational nuclear plants to consistently deliver required throughput targets
• To ensure that all activities are carried out in a way that ensures a high standard of conventional safety in accordance with the HASAW Act and all other relevant Regulations
• To ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with the Nuclear Safety Case and in accordance with the limits and conditions described in the Environmental Permit
• To own and update relevant Safety Cases and ensure that all other operating documents are current, in date and adhered to.
• To drive continuous improvement activities in order to maximise operational effectiveness, increasing capacity and flexibility and trigger corrective actions where necessary
• To liaise & coordinate activities with Decommissioning Project Teams in order to maintain operational activities
• To develop systems & processes that track standards, metrics and performance targets
• To allocate resources effectively to produce optimal results
• To ensure that adequate supervision, instruction and training is provided to operational teams, maintaining high levels of morale and effectiveness
• To lead & drive safety, environmental, security and quality compliance across the business’s operations

Ideally you will / have experience of:-
• Experience of commissioning & managing process operations
• Thorough understanding of nuclear safety and criticality control requirements
• Knowledge of safety cases and safety measures
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain a high performing operations team.
• Ability to plan work in the medium term and take a strategic outlook, both departmental and company, with a broad understanding of the overall group business.
• Ability to produce annual section budgets and plan, priorities, monitor and control in accordance.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the relevant health, safety, environmental, security and quality procedures and regulatory requirements
