This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a strong technical background and demonstrable experience in the management and successful delivery of contracts in the piling, foundations, or ground engineering sectors.
Our client is a renowned and market leading specialist piling, foundations and ground engineering contractor offering in-house technical expertise in a number of specific areas utilising a variety of methods. Our client ‘s service offering includes rotary augered piles, LDP, CFA, secant, and contiguous retaining walls, plunge column piles, diaphragm walls, restricted access piling, pile extraction, slurry walls, support fluid and polymer expertise, rock and obstruction coring, and sheet piling.
Due to the recent award of several long running, complex contracts, our client now wishes to strengthen their operational team with the appointment of an experienced Project Manager. The main purpose of this position is to liaise with and support the Operations Manager to coordinate the safe management and successful delivery of project works, whilst controlling site activities and ensuring HSEQ, programme and budget requirements are achieved. You will lead and drive works to progress in accordance with the contract programme, to the best commercial advantage and without prejudice to the health and safety of employees, sub-contractors, and the public, whilst also taking into full account all environmental considerations.
The Role
- Manage the coordination of project works, to ensure communication between all stakeholders, including suppliers, subcontractors, engineering, safety and environmental teams and clients, is successfully accomplished
- Build, develop and manage teams to deliver all aspects of project requirements
- Identify training requirements and review the performance of the workforce, and ensure delivery of required briefings
- Provide, monitor, and control resources, labour plant and materials to meet programme
- Manage sub-contractors and directly employed workforces
- Ensure high standard of quality to meet project and client specification requirements
- Assist engineering teams with work plans and outputs for production of method statements and programmes
- Ensure accurate, legible, and up-to-date allocation sheets are recorded and provided at shift close, with delivery tickets and plant returns issued to the engineering and commercial teams
- Ensure all records for example inspections, works permits and briefings are up to date and in place
- Carry out regular safety and environmental inspections and implement recommended courses of action as identified from progress monitoring and management audits
- Maintain full and accurate daily site reports, including any changes or variations, subcontractor attendance, and records of work-related discussions with the client, designers, RE or the project team
The Person
- A proven track record of successful project delivery at a comparable level of seniority within the piling, foundations, or ground engineering sectors
- Able to self-motivate and motivate others working as part of a close and successful team
- Understanding of the importance of input to work winning and pre-contract discussions with clients and their professional advisors
- A sound, engineering approach with knowledge of piling and ground engineering parameters
- Willingness to embrace new technology such as digital management platforms
- Safety, team, client and quality focussed
- Basic commercial and contractual knowledge appropriate to piling sub-contracts
- An instinct for establishing safe and productive project sites
