Our client is a leading homelessness charity in London, providing housing and support to over 1,300 people each year. They help children, young people and adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness reach their potential, and move on to live happy, fulfilled lives.
We are looking for an Area Manager to join our client’s Operations Team and lead eight managers and team leaders in the delivery of front line housing and support services based over four different locations across Lambeth, Bromley and Kensington and Chelsea.

Overall Aim
* To take overall responsibility for the delivery of front line housing and support services.
* To lead and direct staff.
* To contribute to the strategic development of services across the organisation.
* To take the lead on external partnerships and raising organisational profile.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure the accommodation based services meet relevant internal and external quality standards.
* Ensure services meet their performance indicators and ensure strategies are put in place for any services which are not meeting the required standard.
* Set clear standards and performance targets, monitor staff performance against these targets, and take action to address any performance issues.
* To take responsibility for all operational contract management and take pro-active measures to address any areas of contract non-compliance.
* To seek opportunities for additional funding to provide enhanced services to our customers.
* To keep up to date with best practice in all areas of housing and support service management.
* Develop excellent external relationships with key stakeholders.
* To lead and develop the range of housing, support and specialist support services, whilst providing effective management and development input to managers and staff.
Customer Involvement
* To ensure customer involvement is at the centre of service delivery and fully embedded in the ethos of the service.
* Ensure customers are adequately informed, consulted with and able to influence the operation and development of the services.
* To show a commitment to and deliver success around volunteering in services for both customers and the local community.
General
* To line manage staff members ensuring performance objectives are set and monitored, regular one to one meetings are undertaken, workloads are planned, co-ordinated and reviewed ensuring the efficient use of resources, whilst identifying and addressing induction, training and development needs.
* Assist, support and lead where necessary on HR related matters for your staff in conjunction with HR, including performance, disciplinary and recruitment.
* Participate in the annual budget preparation, manage and monitor performance against budget and identify and implement initiatives to manage costs ensuring that services stay within budget, making efficiency savings as required.
* To keep fully up to date with relevant legislation and best practice relating to the organisations areas of work.
* To participate in providing out of hours on call cover.
* To carry out any other duties as directed by the Leadership Team.
