Salary: £72,000 – £76,800 per year

Principal/Lead Web Developer – PHP, WordPress, AWS, Apache, MySQL – London

The world’s leading science and technology weekly is looking for a Lead Developer to join it’s web team based in Holborn. We are looking for somebody to thrive in an exciting environment as we push ahead with a redevelopment.

Skills & Requirements
First and foremost you need to have the right character and attitude; we have a truly cross-functional and highly-collaborative environment and whether you’re a graduate trainee or a CIO we expect you to get involved! We’re also a rapidly growing and evolving global business so we’re looking for people with ambition, people who aren’t happy sitting back and enjoying the status-quo, but people who want to grow and challenge themselves, who want to work creatively and create world leading products with the latest technology.

There is a base-line of skills that we need and you should be able to demonstrate solid skills in the following:
• PHP
• wordpress
• AWS
• Apache
• MySQL
• Test driven or other agile development methodologies
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder skills

About the company
We are a global online media and information business cited amongst the world’s top-100 ‘online superpowers’. We have an international portfolio of market leading products that spans Western Europe, North America, China, Singapore, Australia and beyond. We have a history spanning over 100 years and revenues in the region of $10bn.

We’re a company who understands the importance of looking after our staff; these days, particularly in and around London, there are far too many companies who expect their employees to deliver ‘whatever the cost’ and so often we meet candidates who are sick of long hours and high stress for precious little thanks or recognition. We’re a family and work-life-balance focussed company where the emphasis is firmly on personal and career development balanced with good working hours, loads of holiday (29 days 2 charity days!), and a low-pressure culture with great benefits.
