About the Company: My Client is a family run civil engineering contractor that has successfully developed from a ground works, drainage and road works contractor into a national construction company with a strong base in the water sector, as well as a significant presence in the gas, electricity, rail, highways, new build and refurbishment industries. My client has offices across the UK covering Scotland, The North, Central, and Southern regions of England.

About the Role: Due to a healthy order book for the remainder of 2014 & 2015 there is need for an General Foreman to support the project manager in delivering bespoke infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities will include Carrying out Quality inspection of your own section and of others whilst ensuring that the Gangers/workforce has sufficient and correct information with regard to workmanship and finish. You will have a keen eye for detail when monitoring levels of workmanship and ensuring all Non Conformances are reported as required. With any supervisory role there is always paperwork and you will be required to review Method Statements and make alterations/improvements where appropriate. If required you will have to be able to play an active role in Accident/Incident investigations and from that it is expected that you can suggest/recommend appropriate improvements to Health & Safety factors by observing and liaising with workforce and subcontractors. You will have to be able to understand key milestones and prioritise relevant resources and from there assist in the production of a budget/resourced programme and monitor/review actual resources expended.

About the benefits/rewards: Along with a basic salary between £36,000 – £48,000my client offers highly competitive remuneration packages along with a company vehicle and other benefits such as: laptop, mobile phone, car/car allowance, 25 days holiday, health & pension scheme.

Requirements: Ideal candidates will have experience in civil engineering whilst working for a competitor contractor (experience of working within highways/infrastructure sector would be advantageous). You should hold CSCS Site Manager, SMSTS and NSWRA tickets. You should be able to show a stable employment history of working. The successful candidate must be able to work well as part of team as well as independently, thus you must be a good communicator at all levels. It is important that you are IT Literate, particularly Microsoft Office Applications.
