Head of Procurement

My client is one of the world’s largest mining and manufacturing organisations with an exciting vacancy for a Regional Head of Procurement to develop, implement and lead the operational and strategic procurement activities across services, equipment and construction spend areas. This role encompasses 3 countries and is Africa based.

The Role:

Coordinate & manage the operational procurement activities and strategy based on needs of the Africas Mining units
Lead implementation of procurement and purchasing solutions and processes for Operational purchasing management
Ensure proper procurement procedures are in place and followed
Supervise Capital Purchases for Africa’s Operational Units – Sustaining capex & support to optimize Total Cost of Ownership
Coordinate business reviews with strategic suppliers
Facilitate transparent and close collaboration with the business and regional operational Mining Sites.
Coordinate on quotes or competitive bids from suppliers and negotiate pricing
Coordinate in development of Requests for Proposal and Requests for Quotation
Develop best-practices across the procurement teams
Ensure reliable and appropriate relationships with qualified subcontractors and suppliers
Build and strengthen an industry-leading and sustainable Africas procurement organizationExperience:

Minimum of 10 years procurement experience
A solid understanding of the Mining business
Degree educated as a minimum
Ability to make decisions
Excellent communication skills
Fluency in English and French
Experience of managing a team**Please note this role is regional – across Liberia, Algeria and Bosnia. It is on a fly in fly out basis.
