Project Manager (Automation and Electrical)

Salary: £48,000 – £54,000 per year

This global leader who supply major automated manufacturing systems worldwide are going through a time of exceptional growth, which means as the Project Manager, you will have lots of exciting projects to work on. Collaborating closely with the business development and multi-disciplinary engineering design and product development teams, you will be responsible for ensuring the electrical designs meet the required standards, customer needs are met on time and as the automation technical expert, that the control software you write make it all work.

Project Manager (Automation and Electrical) – What you will be doing:

Project Management: –

* Take the sold project concept through specification then hand over to the electrical engineering team for design

* Working with the sales team provide technical advice and expertise, suggest improvements, and assist with the development of electrical designs as required

* Develop the automation software and PLC code for the motion control of the specialist equipment and machinery to achieve customer requirements of production efficiency

* Supervise, check, resolve any problems and ensure all is correct and compliant, then prepare, support, and review the accompanying manuals

* Once the machinery has been built, test the systems and coding before shipping to the customer

* Travel to site and assist with the electrical and automation installs, training, commissioning, and hand over to the customer.

* Once commissioned provide excellent technical support to the customer via site visits, phone, or online contact

Technical Sales: –

* Prepare customer pricing schedules in conjunction with the electrical team for bespoke electrical / automation solutions

* Support the sales team with technical advice and work very closely with the customers to sell outstanding electrical automation control systems

* Be the technical ambassador for the customer, demonstrating your expertise and commercial astuteness

Project Manager skills, values, and qualifications:

* Electrical engineering qualification with demonstrable experience in design and development

* PLC, HMI, VSD programming and configuration experience for automated machinery and equipment

* Strong skills ideally in Siemens, Omron, or equivalent in Rockwell / Allen Bradley, Schneider or GE platforms

* Experience using AutoCAD, ePLAN, or similar CAD systems plus the development of in-house standards, FD’s and functions blocks

* Motion control, pneumatics and hydraulic experience would be very useful

* You’ll be personable with great communication skills, respectful and honourable

* You’ll need to be flexible as there will be some overseas travel to customer sites and still have the energy to adapt and get the best from yourself and your team colleagues
