Section Manager – Quality Ippc Section

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Section Manager specialising in Ingredient and Primary Processing Characterisation to join a leading food and drink company based in the Gloucestershire area. My client provides scientific and technical support to the food and drink industry globally, including analysis and testing, operational support and knowledge management.

The purpose of this role is to oversee and manage the running of the Ingredients and Primary Product Characterisation Section and in particular the effective utilisation of staff and resources/facilities in order to ensure safe working, service/project delivery, quality and technical excellence, operational efficiency, business development and financial performance of the Section within a quality environment.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the Section Manager- Ingredients and Primary Processing Characterisation, you will be required to:

1. To manage the team of technologists that provide a range of services related to the quality and safety of cereals and ingredients, with a well-established client base within the milling, plant breeding and allied sectors. To do this, you must provide technical and scientific leadership to develop the team members to achieve their maximum potential.

2. Key objectives will be to grow the client base and income of the section by expanding its remit to a broader range of raw materials and ingredients. A major aspect of this will be to contribute to strategic development of the facilities within the organisation, as well as developing the staff within the section.

3. Business development, external marketing and sales. Business development responsibilities will be for both longer term and shorter term activities and will require the building of relationships and preparation of proposals for key clients (public and private) within the UK and beyond.

4. Ensure operational efficiency through resource management and work practices, managing technical delivery of outputs to agreed service levels. You will also be responsible for implementing required systems of business management, including health and safety.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

As the Section manager within Ingredients and Primary Processing Characterisation Section, you should be:

1. Degree qualified in a relevant scientific subject or equivalent (e.g. professional qualification and/or relevant experience). A higher degree in a relevant subject may be an advantage

2. An expert within Quality systems and previous experience implementing quality practices within a UKAS or equivalent laboratory. Experience of the food manufacturing supply chain and R&D activity an advantage.

3. Experience working with LIM Systems or similar and managing or supervising analytical services within an ISO-accredited environment.
