Location:  Bradford (hybrid working, a mix of office and home-working)
We are currently looking for an Environmental Advisor to join our Asset Strategy & Policy Team. This is an exciting and challenging role, working at the leading edge of the water industry, providing expert advice to the business on matters concerning environmental regulation. You will be providing advice to the business on the impact of new, changed and existing environmental legislation.
What will the role involve?
You will provide regulatory and permitting support and advice to capital investment schemes to ensure that they comply with the Company’s environmental quality obligations. You will also assist or lead environmental investigations in support of both capital and operational activities of the business.
You will use your technical knowledge to ensure that policies, procedures and associated interpretations are up to date and disseminated within the business. You will also assist in the production of Asset Management Plan submissions.

A key aspect of the role will be influencing the application of environmental legislation and associated Environment Agency policies and procedures by developing and maintaining links with environmental regulatory bodies and NGOs at regional level.
What key skills are required?
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the key pieces of environmental legislation related to the water industry and the various environmental permissions required by the business. You will have a good understanding of environmental science, particularly related to water industry and the key environmental guidance and regulatory approaches adopted by the environmental regulator, in regard to the company’s activities.

You will also have the following skills:

•    Good data handling and analysis skills.
•    Proficient user of word-processing and spreadsheets.
•    Strong written and oral communication.

•    Can present effectively to small groups of people (up to 20).
•    Effectively influence and negotiate on environmental regulatory matters at a local level.
•    Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships.
