About the role
To play a vital role in the VitalityLife reinsurance team by taking on the responsibility to provide VitalityLife’s reinsurers with accurate and timely monthly reinsurance accounts required to meet all treaty deadlines. This includes working on a big project to migrate the current system to new software.
Working with actuaries and actuarial analysts in the UK, systems analysts in South Africa and UK based reinsurers.
AccountabilitiesResponsible for the production of the monthly reinsurance accounts. This includes working with the reinsurance systems development team to ensure the reinsurance premium calculations in the system are correct, this requires writing the reinsurance premium calculation specifications for the systems developers. Responsible for ensuring the data in the monthly accounts is correct and consistent.
Perform checks on the monthly accounts using Excel/R. Identify areas where the systems are not built according to the specification and rectify them with the support of the system developers.
Assist in the testing and sign-off of policy & reinsurance system releases from a reinsurance perspective.
Assist in improving and automating the production of the monthly reinsurance accounts as much as possible.
Contribute to the design, build, testing and documentation of newly developed data processes and analysis in response to new product launches and reinsurance treaty changes, as well as the maintenance and enhancement of existing processes.
Work with the product development team on product changes from a reinsurance perspective.
Working on the project to migrate to a new reinsurance system. This will involve working with new software and an external team of experts to build this system. This role includes working on the actual migration (e.g. coding the reinsurance premium calculations into the system) as well as overseeing this project.
Build good relationships with reinsurers and interact with them on a regular basis.
Prepare relevant documentation for regular review meetings with reinsurers.
Communicate relevant project progress to management and project stakeholders.
· Skills required Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g. actuarial, mathematics, economics, engineering, computer science).
At least three years experience in a data analyst role.
Advanced skills working in Microsoft Excel.
Experience of coding in R.
Experience of data analysis.
Ability to grasp concepts of a technical nature quickly.
Excellent relationship building – with both internal colleagues and external partners.
Excellent communication skills, both formal and informal.
