We have a really exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner to join our clients growing business in the Huddersfield area.

We are currently looking for a Transport Planner to work in the client’s National Distribution Centre (NDC) in Yorkshire. Reporting into the Distribution Manager you will be responsible for supplying and coordinating the transport service to all internal customers – these being hundreds of stores nationwide. The role of the Transport Planner will involve liaising with all hauliers and distribution centre management teams to plan the transport and pick, adhering to strict KPI’s and budgets.

This is a dynamic role where you will be managing 80-100 trucks per day with both in-house and subcontracted hauliers.

Transport Planner – Responsibilities

– To plan routes ensuring that vehicle and driver resources are utilized with optimum efficiency.

– Ensure sub contracted work is maintained at minimum levels ensuring optimaluse of in house resources.

– To answer incoming calls from customers and deal with the same accordingly, updating the planning systems as events unfold.

– Issuing instructions to the dispatch department and drivers ensuring that all work is executed as planned – ensuring that planning systems are updated and all necessary system changes are actioned in real time.

– To ensure all collection and delivery times planned throughout the day are managed accordingly.

– To control vehicles in conjunction with the dispatch department ensuring any major changes are re-planned as required to meet customer demands.

With exceptional organisational and communication skills you will inspire and lead the team, helping them fulfil their own potential within the brand.

A proven background within a Transport or Distribution environment is required for this position and you will ideally come from a well recognised, fast moving brand. Good numeracy and PC skills are necessary to perform this role, as is a good geographical knowledge of the United Kingdom.
