Transport Planner / Customer Service Agent – Essex – £30-35k – VR/16029

Our client, a large transport company, is seeking an experienced Transport Planner / Customer Service Agent to join their team based in Essex.

Duties of the Transport Planner / Customer Service Agent include:

Planning of all daily domestic departures
Control of contracted hauliers
Updating clients on thier shipments, including updating clients of delays and providing delivery confirmations when requested
Maximise optimum volume loaded to each vehicle subject to targets set by management from time to time
Source additional transport where volume driven in the most cost effective way
Ascertain most effective method to move freight, utilising additional resource i.e. couriers where the service level requires such
Ensure clear communications regarding requirements to contracted hauliers
Daily communication with drivers to rectify issues as they arise.
Build and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

The Skills and Experience Required for the Transport Planner / Customer Service Agent:

In depth knowledge of computerised routing systems
Good all-round IT skills a must
Excellent telephone manner
Awareness of hazardous goods essential
Excellent understanding of UK transport legislation a must

In return, the Transport Planner / Customer Service Agent will receive a salary of around £36,000 – £42,000depending on experience.
