Trade Counter Sales Assistants (Tools) – Full & Part Time

Due to an exciting period of expansion, our client, the region’s leading supplier of hand and power tools are seeking friendly and professional Trade Counter Sales Assistants to join them at their new branches in either Oxford or Birmingham which are soon be open to both trade and public customers.

These positions are offered on both a full time or part time basis, either at 40 hours per week or 20 hours per week.

These are truly exciting opportunities for those with a background in advising on products for trade customers, ideally within a builders merchant setting, to join our client; a growing independent organisation who are part of a larger group of companies which have been operating successfully in East Anglia for many years and have gained an outstanding reputation for their service, products and looking after their staff.

The purpose of this position is to be proactive in generating sales by appropriately advising on products (specifically hand and power tools) and offering truly excellent customer service to maximise repeat business. This role is quite varied and will be based primarily on the Trade Counter, although you may also be expected to help arrange stock and answer incoming phone calls as necessary. We are seeking a good team player who will be happy to help the branch maximise its profits in any way they can.

Duties involve:
• Communicating effectively with customers, co-workers and others in a polite and friendly manner
• Advise on price, sell and take customer orders
• Actively seek to promote selected products when asked to do so
• Take and process customer orders quickly ensuring no mistakes or delays
• Respond to customer quotation requests, follow up where necessary
• Arrange delivery or collection for customer
• Offer high levels of Customer Service at all times, striving to exceed customer expectations
• Working closely with Reps and other team members and pass generated leads as required
• Liaison with other departments to ensure customers’ orders are received correctly and on time

We are seeking a candidate who has a good level of numerical ability and is capable of striking up strong customer relations. You will be well-organised and work on your own initiative. It is essential that you have experience and knowledge of sales order processes and are a confident yet personable person who is willing to take the initiative and continuously strive for excellent customer service. Due to my client’s wide product range you must be enthusiastic to learn and maintain your knowledge in line with new product releases etc.
