Salary: £34.39 – £38.22 per hour

We are looking for a Test Engineer/Product Validation Engineer to provide on-site support to a test facility in Coventry.

This position requires an engineer with experience in a testing environment (preferably Internal Combustion Engine testing) to provide on-site support and act as the interface between the engineers and the test facility to ensure maximum utilisation of the test cell, execute tests and validate data quality. This position also involves the specification, design, implementation, validation and support of test systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, instrumentation, data acquisition and control systems.

Candidates will be assisting in the development of Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engines. They will be supporting the program on two fronts:

1) Test Engineering – managing daily test cell activities. Executing test requests provided by Combustion and Emissions engineering. Writing and executing tests for mechanical validation of engine hardware.

2) Product Validation Engineering – working closely with the design team to define technical requirements for engine hardware validation, investigate and address potential system concerns or issues, determine causal mechanisms for hardware failure, recommend appropriate action, own problem resolution and document results with guidance from more experienced team members/system owners.

Required Experience
– Candidates will need to have prior experience working in a testing environment (Internal Combustion Engine experience highly recommended), using data acquisition systems, processing, and analysing data
– Experience with component validation and failure tracking/resolution
– Automotive experience is preferred but not mandatory
– Experience with Spark Ignited (SI) engines is preferred but not mandatory

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.

Experience: Prior Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is mandatory.

£28.66 – 31.85

Initial assignment duration: 12 months

This is a hybrid role; during test work candidates are expected to be onsite up to 5 days per week. Occasional travel to a site in Darlington is required.
