Test Engineer

Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 per year

As Test Engineer you will own and manage all activities in the design assurance laboratory. Provide team management and expertise to design, develop, conduct, analyse and report all design assurance testing activity. To participate in new product development and sustaining engineering projects. To work in close association with Development, Manufacturing and Business Development personnel to ensure the highest levels of quality, reliability and manufacturability are achieved.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and data quality expectations are met, including conducting risk assessments.
• Design, plan and undertake all experimental test and verification programs, including statistically significant sampling plans to meet right first-time expectations.
• Day to day management of team, prioritising their time accordingly to ensure deadlines are met while maintaining quality.
• Generate test reports, compile test results, perform analysis and interpretation of test data, including statistical analysis.
• Perform testing and test qualification activity.
• Perform regulatory standard assessments, including generation of appropriate technical and project documentation for technical file and regulatory submission.
• Support multiple projects balancing priorities and resources in a systematic and planned way, to ensure that they meet the required specifications and
• Hold and participate in cross functional team reviews, providing updates on test progress, determining methods, samples sizes and timing requirements.
• Maintain the Laboratory and equipment to a high standard. All instrumentation and equipment to be serviced, calibrated on time and kept to the highest safety standards. Apply workplace organisation methods to improve efficiency.

 Person Specification

• Technical education to ideally to degree level or equivalent industry experience
• A minimum of 5 years professional experience in a highly regulated industry
• Strong demonstrable experience in management of people and teams
• Good understanding of measurement theory, statistical inference and measuring equipment appraisal and selection
• Experience in working to high product and quality standards
• Strong demonstrable experience of design, and qualification of test methods and equipment.
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate at all levels
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, organisation skills with experience in root cause investigation and tools
• Exercise good judgment in elevating and communicating actual or potential issues to management
