Technical Writer / Technical Author

Salary: £42,000 – £54,000 per year

You will be a Technical Writer who enjoys combining your scientific / engineering knowledge with your ability to promote strategic sales and marketing for some very high-tech products. You will be developing the technical content to support product launches and upgrades across web pages and presentations, keyword performance enhancement, video’s, images, features and generating future ideas.

You’ll have a passion for developing that excellent technical content, expanding and enhancing the information following reviews to drive additional sales, taking newly engineered products to post-release successful launches. 

What you will be doing as the Technical Writer:

• Collaborate internationally with the internal engineering teams to understand the products and documentation needs
• You’ll review regularly technical content to develop and expand the web pages with e.g. videos, applications, features and new images to enhance the sales and marketing impact
• Develop external search engine keyword content for maximising impact
• Review UK and work closely with the US technical marketing team on web presentations
• Prepare, review and maintain technical documents for new and existing products
• Assist with new product marketing insight, analysis, viability, target customers and applications on a project basis

Skills and qualities required for the Technical Writer:

• Scientific or engineering degree with proven technical writing experience for products and software documentation
• Sales and marketing perspective and experience to increase market share
• Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal skills – you’ll be a great communicator
• Attention to detail, organised and able to deliver high quality documentation
• A team player who can collaborate, multitask, yet manage your time and work independently to achieve all deadlines
• Proficient with Microsoft packages especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Ideally have prior experience with video creation, proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud – Photoshop and FrameMaker
