Job Description

Dutypoint produces, sells and distributes pump systems primarily to the construction sector for the provision of solutions such as hot and cold water, water pressure booster sets, waste water management systems and fire safety sprinkler systems.

We are currently recruiting for a Technical Support Engineer to join our Technical & Engineering team.

The successful candidate will support the team and business by providing an advisory support service to customers and internal staff. There will be a lot of liaison with the Service, Sales and Production departments internally, advising on technical matters to resolve issues relating to the installation of pump systems, diagnosis of issues relating to pump systems as well as discussing repairs or modifications and what parts may be needed to resolve problems with pumps or improve pump systems.

You will also be required to support our New Product Development team and designers, particularly with modifications.

This is a multi-faceted role that involves a lot of communication to remedy issues and with this in mind an individual with strong problem solving skills as well as effective customer services and communication skills is required. Ideally, you will have previously worked as a Service Engineer or in a similar hands on position.

This is a fast-paced, reactive role driven by serving the varied needs of our valued customers according to their timescales, but always with a strong focus on attention to detail.


Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the internal and externalsales teams with technical solutions within budget constraints etc.
  • Supporting the onsite service team with technical queries such as specifying new units to replace existing failed units.
  • Site visits as required to investigate issues or provide advice on a technical problem.
  • Running mini continuous improvement projects from start to finish.
  • Supporting our in-house manufacturing team with technical problems arising in production and liaising with other stakeholders in the business to resolve the issue to the satisfaction of all parties, most importantly the customer!
  • Supporting our purchasing team with technical product queries.
  • Supplier and cross-departmental liaison.
  • Supporting with the creation of O&M manuals, datasheets and installation guides as necessary.
  • Briefing CAD technicians on drafting technical solutions and supporting them with other general technical queries.
  • Technical opinions/reports in customer disputes.

Requirements

Skills & Attributes:

  • Good knowledge of:

o   Pumping and hydraulics

o   Variable speed drives and other pump controllers

o   HVAC and other mechanical and electrical building services

o   Cold and hot water systems

o   Foul and surface water systems

o   Domestic and commercial plumbing

o   Monitoring and controls.

  • Practical hands-on experience advantageous
  • Experience with repairs, overhauls, installations, servicing and commissions
  • Good at managing multiple/conflicting priorities and managing internal or external customer expectations
  • Commercially savvy
  • A good listener
  • Good at working under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Creative/lateral thinker
  • Having a keen eye for compliance and best practice
  • Good communication, people and team work skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Willing to learn new software and processes, and attend training where required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD schematic drawings advantageous (P&ID’s).
