Company Overview

Bluefin are recruiting for a leading company in Derby who are looking for a candidate to join them as a Technical Estimator. Our client design, manufacture and maintain logistical support equipment for Rolls Royce, Perkins and Bombardier through our ISO 9001, ISO 9100 and ISO 14001 accredited systems.

Position Overview

The technical estimator is responsible for creating and optimising the way in which their products are manufactured ensuring the highest level of quality, affordability and efficiency. An interest in current and emerging manufacturing technologies is essential when identifying possible enhancements such as the creation of bespoke jigs and equipment.

Additionally, the role will entail supporting the Estimating Team to produce quotations by liaising directly with internal and external customers as well as MRP support.

Responsibilities

* Support inhouse design team to ensure new designs are fit for manufacture

* Create and optimise routings including the expected operational times

* Track works orders to ensure timely delivery and amend routings where necessary

* Correct and implement countermeasures when shop floor issues occur

* Generate estimates following the standard company procedure

* Identify opportunities to increase manufacturing efficiency through introduction of new equipment or processes.

Requirements

* Experience working in a manual manufacturing environment

* Knowledge of best practices when working with either steel fabrications or wood assemblies

* Ability to interpret 2D engineering drawings

* Working knowledge of MS Office

* Logical, Numerate with strong problem-solving skills

* Excellent communication abilities
