Salary: £54,000 per year

Systems Engineer – Product DevelopmentNorthamptonshire to £45k + ben

Our client is recognized globally as a market leader in the provision of highest quality and efficient Materials Handling solutions for a diverse range of applications, and as a result of a recent positive restructuring exercise and an ongoing planned programme of continuous strategic growth, an urgent need has arisen to recruit an enthusiastic and highly capable Systems Engineering professional to complement their existing Product Development team based in the Northamptonshire region.

Reporting to the Head of Product Development, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development and test of bespoke computer software for a range of warehouse management and control systems. You will develop software in line with the system and module design documentation produced for projects and use agreed company standards so that work can be easily understood, checked, and maintained by others. Additionally you will carry out unit testing to ensure that the software performs as per the design and according to company standards (with respect to screen layouts, behaviour etc.).

Working to strict deadlines you will develop software within the time specified and use experience gained on previous projects and in previous companies to challenge design where there is a more appropriate solution using the agreed change control mechanism to do so, and using the SPR logging system (currently ‘Bugzilla’) to report upon faults in core package software when events occur. You will also provide support to the client/commissioning team during early life and assist with software build deliveries to test and site environments where required.

Whilst primarily based within the Northampton location, occasional visits to client sites may be required so a full clean UK driving licence is essential for the position, with success in the role measure by software quality (and the number of faults found during functional, beta and acceptance testing) and your contribution to overall project success. You will be an excellent communicator at all levels and comfortable in working autonomously and as part of a team as well as with other departments and Systems Architects on any given project.

To be considered for this exceptional opportunity you will realistically be qualified to degree level in a relevant discipline and demonstrate at least 12 months commercial experience gained within a commercial programming environment.
