Sustainability Manager

Salary: £41.58 per hour

We are currently seeking a Sustainability Manager who will be responsible for the sustainability strategy and delivery of the Surrey Highways Term Partnering Contract

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Manage and report on the Divisional sustainability programme

• Custodian of the Surrey Highways division sustainability strategy, focusing on delivering our parents environmental ambition alongside contract and customer specific social and environmental aspirations. 

• Improving the sustainability culture of the Surrey Highways service.

• Develop training and communication materials and undertake briefings to embed sustainability as an underlying component of the highway maintenance and improvement Service, including but not limited to carbon reduction, delivering the circular economy (waste reduction, reuse and sustainable procurement), pollution prevention, incident investigation, protection of biodiversity, water reduction and the creation of social value 

• Develop and maintain the Division’s sustainability strategy and delivery plan.

• Keep management updated on progress and changes to the sustainability requirements and legal/policy changes.

• Review and assist Ringway’s supply chain in their development of more sustainable methods / solutions/materials to delivering the highway service

• Work in Partnership with the Client and communities(via the wider team) in a collaborative manner

• Attend Divisional progress meetings where and when required 

• To work closely with the senior Divisional management to ensure effective contract delivery and to facilitate an effective learning loop and culture of continual improvement between contract delivery and quality performance.

The successful candidate will have:

• Degree in business, environmental engineering, or sustainability preferable albeit not essential

• Lean practitioner

• Developed and implemented sustainability processes and systems

• Client management on sustainability issues

• Performance management

• At all times to behave in a way that supports the company’s stated Vision and Values and where applicable to ensure all team members do likewise.

• Flexible to travel to support the business across the southeast region.
