Salary: £45,600 – £54,000 per year

As a leading manufacturer of highly engineered products based near Peterborough, my client has an enviable reputation for quality of product and a long standing history of being at the forefront of their market for a long time.

As part of the site leadership team, and reporting into the site manager, the Supply Chain Manager will lead all purchasing related activity for the business. Working closely with the Group Purchasing Director from a functional standpoint, you will have full responsibility for the procurement of all materials, services and supplier for the site.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

– Maintain close control of purchasing for all materials, goods and services ensuring that best quality, price and delivery are achieved to departmental KPI’s.
– Arrange where possible to establish Group buying deals, in conjunction with the Director of Purchasing
– Effectively manage, negotiate and control categories of spend.
– Negotiate orders, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
– Raise purchase orders and deal with invoice queries.
– Conduct contractual negotiations with suppliers to ensure that all contracts reflect a robust flow-down of our contractual terms and conditions and to minimise commercial risks.
– Management and control of purchasing systems
– Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications.
– Access more effective suppliers capable of supporting design initiatives and/or cost out strategies
– Evaluate and support resolution on material quality, price, supply issues, delivery and invoice discrepancies.
– Propose and implement job related process improvements, participate in cross-functional reviews.
– Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation
– Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review potential cost reduction activities

Ideally you will have experience within a similar supply chain or purchasing role, and be able to demonstrate a track record of implementing robust purchasing strategies within high value/low volume fabricated/build business. Educated to at least a higher level standard, with vocational qualifications essential, a CIPS qualification is preferred but not essential. You will have demonstrable negotiation skills and a history of implementing cost reduction programmes. As a leader, you will have the ability to simplify a complex situation and articulate this, an ability to make smart and fast decisions. System knowledge including ERP and MS Office/Excel for data analysis
