Salary: £39,600 – £42,000 per year
My client are a well known employer whose Cambridgeshire based manufacturing facility is synonomous with producing high quality products using cutting edge technology. Due to the continued demand on over-seas suppliers, and the need to identify and build on the relationships required to ensure the best possible product is always available, they are looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join the team.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the quality and reliability of an allocated group of externally sourced components and sub assemblies to ensure that products satisfy their supplier quality & reliability targets and customer expectations.
To work with the Operations, Engineering and Purchasing teams, ensuring continuous improvement of supplier quality and reliability across key products.
To champion the cause of supplier selection & development and initiate cross-functional communication to facilitate step changes in supplied quality.
Ensure that the work carried out by the business and its suppliers conform to ISO standards and or other appropriate standards including TUV, CE, GS etc.
To identify suppliers with the necessary core competencies to complement my clients product portfolio into the future.
Ideally you will be degree qualified or possess similar experience relating to the role, and at least 3 years in a manufacturing business. You will be able to demonstrate your understanding of supplier quality, and the use of appropriate tools including 6Sigma, Lean Manufacturing methods and process capability studies. You will have experience of auditing suppliers to ISO standards, use of SPC, PPAP and APQP processes.
Problem solving skills are essential, as well as a firm character and the ability to work as part of a team and alone.
You will be required to travel to suppliers in the UK, Europe and occasionally the Far East to audit and build relationships.
