Supplier Quality Engineer

Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer – Permanent – Excellent Salary and Benefits Package
The Supplier Quality Engineer is to ensure consistent quality of parts, sub assemblies and materials from suppliers and the continual improvement of supplier quality performance which may require travelling throughout the UK and overseas.

Key Accountabilities:
• Establish supplier Quality requirements in conjunction with technical and procurement teams
• Establish part quality standards and acceptance criteria for all products related purchased items
• Liaise with Manufacturing and Engineering teams on incoming inspection requirements
• Produce routine supplier quality performance reports
• Produce supplier/product specific Quality reports as required by the business
• Manage product quality defect reports
• Act as single point of contact for all supplier quality initiatives
• Support problem solving activities incorporating supplier and internal personnel
• Conduct supplier audits and report results
• Lead supplier development, assess supplier manufacturing sites, and make vital contributions to our supplier sourcing and assessment process

Key Results Areas:
• Elimination of repeat Supplier non conformities
• An improving trend in Supplier Quality performance metrics
• Ensure our suppliers plan and control their manufacturing processes effectively, so we benefit from the highest quality
• Establishing a professional SQA role within the Company and with the Vendor base
• Working closely with the purchasing department, to establish a comprehensive system for dealing
with suppliers including communication methods, documentation requirements etc
• Assist with the implementation of a supplier development programme in order to continuously
improve flexibility, capability, quality and cost
• To ensure that all necessary documentation is maintained in an up-to-date state

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
• Possess a track record of achievement within the realms of Quality Engineering
• Fully conversant with engineering and quality principles (including but not limited to SPC, Gauge
R&R, DoE, sampling plans)
• Experienced in a wide range of measuring and inspection equipment and be able to interpret
engineering drawings and specifications
• Strong statistical knowledge with advanced use of statistical software such a Minitab
• Document authoring skills in an engineering/technical environment
• Experience of Technical/Engineering environments
• Strong skills and knowledge of IT and Microsoft Office products

Desirable:
• Knowledge and experience of associated management systems such as ISO 14001
• Knowledge of 6 Sigma methodologies
• Qualified Lead Auditor to ISO9001
• HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline
• Working knowledge of ISO TS 16949 quality management systems and audits
• Knowledge of SharePoint, process mapping software and databases
