Salary: £34,800 – £36,000 per year
Our client is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Sous Chef to join their team in this new kitchen for their independent pub in Bethnal Green, London
As part of a growing company, there are currently 5 sites with more expected within the near future so there is good potential for career progression within the company.
Located on the high street with lots of passing trade, the site has an airy modern interior as well as a large beer garden.
As the Sous Chef, you will help the Head Chef run the kitchen and create an exciting menu. The food focus will be on gastro pub British classics using high quality ingredients with a pinch of the wow factor. Sundays will be for roasting- rare breed meat, crispy roast potatoes, an awesome vegan option, and carefully executed trimmings. This is a great opportunity to have lots of creative input and to develop your kitchen management skills.
With the kitchen being on the first floor, you will need to have good logistical skills with the ability to manage the communication between the kitchen and FOH. You will have strong organizational skills to ensure prep and service runs smoothly in the Head Chef’s absence. There will be a team of 5/6 in total so this is a great opportunity to be part of a new, exciting team.
Service hours initially would be 5-10pm Monday – Thursday and midday to 10pm Friday – Sunday with working hours of 48 hours per week (40 hours per week contract is a possibility with salary adjusted accordingly)
Our ideal candidate would
-Currently be a Sous Chef or a strong Chef de Partie looking to step up
-Have a good progressive work history
-Be able to work well within a team and take responsibility in the Head Chef’s absence
-Be able to produce good fresh food with flair and creativity
-Be financially aware
-Have exceptional organizational and communication skills
-Be willing and flexible with a positive can do attitude
-Be passionate about food and good ingredients
