Full job description
Suez
Salary: £36,000 – £37,200 per year
Shift Operations Technician
Are you working in a process plant environment within the Power Generation, Chemical Production, Biomass or similar industry? Or do you already know your way around an Energy from Waste (EfW) facility?
Help create power from sustainable sources.
A greener, more environmentally-friendly UK is possible – and we’re making it happen. As a Shift Operations Technician at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, you’ll be contributing to an ever growing established company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill. We’ve created Energy from Waste facilities, where waste that would normally go to landfill is used to create energy, offsetting the need for fossil fuels. As a Shift Operations Technician you’ll be at the heart of one of our innovative facilities, helping to generate electricity from a sustainable source.
What will I be doing as a Shift Operations Technician?
You’ll be working directly with critical elements of the plant, making sure everything runs safely and efficiently, in a way that complies with environmental legislation. It means continuously monitoring, controlling, assessing and adjusting plant processes, and applying your expertise to any problems that arise. You’ll have particular responsibility for the water tube boilers – sampling and analysing the water within them. You’ll also isolate plant systems if necessary to ensure the plant operates safely.
What are the requirements? (Experience and qualifications)
With a background in Mechanical, Electrical or Process Engineering, you’ll be familiar with aspects of an Energy from Waste facility or similar process plant environment and know how to use plant ancillary equipment. You’ll also be familiar with boilers, process control and measurement and have knowledge of relevant environmental legislation. SUEZ will invest in you from day one with a structured development program as, experience and certifications required for the role include; a BOAS Cert IBO, an IOSH Working Safely qualification along with good IT skills. If you don’t have all of the above don’t worry, as the extensive training programme will increase and develop your skills and expertise, providing you with the additional skills you need.
so availability, for those short listed, will be required during this period.
