Shift Leader

Working within a state of the art automotive tier one organisation and due to retirement, they now seek a Shift Leader / Manager to take responsibility of the business unit on a three shift rotation pattern. You will need to have ideally past Automotive Tier 1 experience, with the capability for progression to a more senior role within the business in a relatively short space of time.

Commutable from: Birmingham, Leicester, Sutton Coldfield, Coventry, Tamworth

Salary: £45,600 – £49,200 p.a. (inclusive of shift allowance) + pension + benefits

The Role

The main purpose of the position is to strategically head up and take full responsibility for the day to day running of this particular business unit during each shift to ensure the customer demands are achieved. As a leader of the shift you will develop, coach and train individuals to ensure performance against key performance indicators are maximised and all team leaders are co-ordinated to ensure efficiency and proficiency. You will be responsible for implementing continuous improvement programs whilst constantly striving to develop and improve the manufacturing process.

The hours of work for this position will be based on a three shift pattern: Morning and afternoon shift runs Monday to Friday and Nights is Sunday to Thursday. Mornings 6.00am – 2.00pm, Afternoons 2.00pm – 10.00pm and Nights 10.00pm – 6.00am.

The Person

You will be an experienced shift leader / shift manager with familiarity from within a high volume, fast paced manufacturing environment (ideally automotive tier one) with the ability to work on your own initiative and make decisive decisions. It is envisaged the selected individual with be potentially fast-tracked into a more senior Business Unit Manager role and act as the benchmark for other shift leaders.

A willingness to work flexible hours is a must whilst strong communication skills and a proven ability to manage and develop staff is required. Ideally you will be educated to HNC/ONC level although this is preferred and not essential.
