Hours are 7:30am-4:30pm Mon-Thurs; 7:30am-1:00pm Friday
Salary in the region of £33,600PA
Skillection are pleased to be working alongside their very well-established manufacturing client based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire assisting them in finding a great Setting Supervisor for their business.
The successful candidate will lead the Setting team to ensure that all changeovers are completed successfully and ensure that products are manufactured in an efficient way and in line with all appropriate safety and quality standards. The role entails supervising and assigning tasks to the Setters, developing specifies methods of work and coordinating workflow to meet production schedules. Part of the role involves taking part in improvement activities to support the business in being more successful.
Key Accountabilities
To lead the setting team
To manage the training and development of Setters
To ensure that the changeover of production lines occurs in an efficient and safe way
To ensure that the Setters set the parameters of the equipment to achieve the right quality standards
To ensure that the Setters adjust presses, rolling machines, slitters and transport mechanisms when it looks as though a problem might be developing
Assist Setters in problem solving
Liaise with the Tool Room, Maintenance, Management and Supervisors
To correctly identify tooling issues and to work with other team members to resolve these when it looks as though a more serious problem might be developing
To lead improvement activities
To support, liaise and advise the Supervisors in planning change-over activities to follow the production plan
Effective execution of the plan ensuring resource availability
To behave in a manner that is safe and that promotes good manufacturing practice
Ensure new starters receive effective training
Ability, when necessary to set and adjust all equipment
Essential Requirements
Minimum 5 years supervisory experience
Engineering background ideally within the metal forming industry
IT literate
Flexible
Ability to think “out of the box”
Good communicator
Proactive and flexible self starter
Experience of managing shift working teams
“Hands on” experience
Good understanding of health and safety regulations in the workplace
Familiar with improving/creating and documenting processes
Managing shift working teams
To understand all quality rules
Basic understanding of lean manufacturing
To liaise with visitors as necessary
To understand the technical processes
Desirable Requirements
To take part in the Health and Safety Committee or other representation roles
To manage, prepare and implement the organisational training programmes
