We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Trainer in Car Valeting to join the offender learning team, and help to develop the Car Valeting programme within HMP Birmingham.
The ideal candidate will be a passionate and creative trainer, who is able to offer knowledge as well as life experience to our learners, in order to guide and assist them throughout their vocational course. You must enjoy working within a challenging yet rewarding environment and have previous experience working within a Car Valeting or Vehicle Maintenance role.
Birmingham is a Victorian local prison, housing adult male prisoners. In 2004, the prison underwent a period of considerable change as a result of a multi-million pound investment programme by the Prison Service. 450 additional prisoner places were added together with new workshops, educational facilities, a new healthcare centre and gymnasium, as well as extensions and improvements to existing facilities.
We have an exciting new opportunity for a talented individual to deliver learner success through effective teaching and delivery on Car Valeting programmes. We have a vacancy for a highly motivated candidate with a ‘can do’ approach to education.
This is a full time permanent position, 37 hours per year, with a salary per annum of £26,866 – £36,127. When applying you will be sent an email complying of a Safeguarding form. Essential Criteria:
Relevant qualification at Level 3 or equivalent
Training or vocational experience within Vehicle Maintenance/Car Valeting and relevant up-to-date knowledge
A good basic general education including, GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English, at Grade C or above
A teaching qualification (CTTLS or above)
An assessor award
Training or vocational experience in a relevant range of Car Valeting and Maintenance or similar skills
Accuracy and precision in written presentation
A good working knowledge of Health & Safety issues
A good level of IT literacy and willing to develop further.
Desirable Criteria:
Verifier awards
Proven track record of managing and supporting diverse groups of learners through nationally accredited programmes
Experience of working with students who may have little experience of education and training.
