The Company:
Robert Walters are excited to be recruiting for a Senior Internal Auditor with an instantly recognisable retailer based in Leeds. Our client is looking for an experienced and analytical individual who will support the business in meeting its strategic objectives on a permanent basis.
The Role:
You will be supporting the financial team in meeting its strategic objectives by demonstrating a drive to achieve best practice in risk management, governance and controls. Provide independent assurance and guidance to the Board and the Audit committee on the adequacy and effectiveness of the group’s control environment. Supporting the business in optimising controls and process efficiency and in protecting value and supporting growth. Supporting the function in delivering its agreed objectives and meeting KPIs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work with the Audit Manager/Senior Manager to perform financial and/or operation audits.
* Design and perform testing to evaluate the operation of the controls in place.
* Make an initial judgement on the design and operating effectiveness of controls in place.
* Ensuring the Audit Manager/Senior Manager is kept up to date on audit progress and findings.
* Provide an initial view on how significant any weaknesses or issues are.
* Draft audit reports, including assessment of findings and overall report grade within agreed timeframes and functional KPIs.
* Follow up and resolve issues and queries raised during review by senior members of audit team.
* Develop relationships with stakeholders to ensure Internal Audit remains relevant.
* Perform and document all work in compliance with established methodology.
* Keep up to date with developments in governance, risk, control and auditing.
Key Skills/Experience Required:
Financial Qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or Internal Audit Qualification (IIA, CIA).
Experience in internal/external audit or a combined audit and finance role
Working or auditing in FTSE 100 companies
Retail Experience
The ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Ability to self-assess own performance and make improvements on such.
Flexible, lateral and objective thinking.
Resilience and ability to work within an environment subject to change.
