Alliance Consulting

Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 per year

My client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of innovative domestic appliances with a comprehensive portfolio of brands serving domestic, trade and industrial markets around the world. They are currently seeking to recruit a Senior Designer to join their New Product Innovation and Development Team.

The successful candidate in this role (based between the design office in Runnymede (Surrey) and working from home, with regular travel to another of the company’s sites in the North West) will be responsible for supporting the design and development of a range of consumer products. This will include aesthetic design and styling, user interfaces (UI) and user experience (UX). You will be involved throughout the whole product lifecycle from concept through to manufacture.

Applications are invited from experienced industrial designers and product designers with a proven track record of bringing new products to market with the following attributes:

Degree qualified or equivalent in industrial design, product design or relevant technical design discipline.
Industry-related experience in design of consumer products with mechanical, electrical, electronic & software elements (previous experience of IoT / WiFi-connected products preferable but not essential)
Previous experience of collaborating with overseas suppliers (in particular Asia).
Experience in New Product Development (NPD) and Introduction (NPI) from concept through to production.
Experience of consumer research and insight processes.
A high-level proficiency with CAD software (preferably Solidworks), CGI rendering software (preferably KeyShot) and Adobe Creative Suite / Photoshop along with competence with MS Office.
Understanding and experience of tolerance analysis and GD&T, with DFMEA being desirable.
Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes of various materials including metals, plastics, fabric (i.e. fabrications, castings, extrusion, injection moulding).
Previous experience of rapid prototyping and use of Additive Layer Manufacturing (ALM) / 3D printing.
An appreciation and understanding of relevant UK, European and International regulations standards, codes of practice and procedures (e.g. UKCA, CE, IP ratings). Within this role you will be required to frequently travel to another of the company sites in the North West and occasional overseas travel (typically lasting a few days, a couple of times per year) so a passport is essential.

In summary, this is a superb opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their Design career, developing and launching new products with an innovative and highly successful brand, and an organisation which can offer career progression in the future.
