Senior Dental Officer

Salary: £18 – £26.4 per hour

We have a client looking for a Senior Dental Officer to join their team on a temporary basis as soon as possible 9 months could be extended after that.

Hours – 37.5 hours a week Monday – Friday

Duties:

* To provide a full range of oral care and prevention to patients of the Salaried Primary Dental Care Service (SPCDS), meeting the Band B competencies listed within the SPCDS Terms and Conditions. This will include urgent oral health assessment and treatment of child and adult patients who are unable to access a General Dental Services.

* To liaise with and refer appropriate cases for treatment at Oral Surgery where appropriate.

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills on clinical techniques and their application to patient dental care. Provide clinical advice to support staff and members of the public who call on dental matters, as appropriate.

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of NHS Dental Regulations and how they relate to provision of care. Take responsibility for ensuring patients’ and their support staff/carers’ understanding of treatment and NHS patient charges.

* Ensure smooth running of the clinic and health and safety of those who use it and to notify as soon as possible his/her line manager of any accidents/incidents which occur in the workplace.

* Maintain records, submit activity data and provide information and reports as required to enable effective management of the service.

* Participate fully in all aspects of service and clinical governance, including audit, peer review, supervision, continuing professional development, and where appropriate, clinical research programmes.

* Work collaboratively and liaise with dental colleagues in the general and hospital dental services, health and social services professionals and others responsible for the care of patients.

The ideal candidate must have:

* BDS or equivalent GDC register able degree

* Current full GDC Registration

* Currently on a Performers List

* Clinical experience working in a UK primary dental care setting

* Vocational Training or equivalent post-graduate experience
