Our client provides Enterprise-class Cloud, IT and Network services to over 1700 companies.

They now have an opportunity within the networking team for an experienced Senior Core Operations Engineer. The purpose of the role is to take responsibility for all aspects of maintaining and supporting the growing core network architecture. Your key responsibilities will include providing advanced troubleshooting support and mentoring for the 2nd and 3rd line service desk teams and supporting internal teams to assist them in delivering their objectives. You will also field core network related engineering queries and provide support with out-of-hours work and on call duties as and when required.

The ideal candidate will have gained advanced technical troubleshooting and networking experience whilst working for a service provider, and will have experience in fundamental networking principles and advanced knowledge of Routers, Switches, Firewalls and Access Control Lists (ACLs). You will have prior experience and knowledge of MPLS protocols and operation, advanced skills in understanding and configuring routing protocol operation, and essentially, you will have exceptional communication skills along with the ability to explain advanced technical terminology in simple terms.

Advanced IP addressing and subnetting knowledge (IPVA4 & IPv6) along with an understanding of switching technology configurations is essential. The successful candidate will also require excellent knowledge of other network principles such as DNS, MX Records, which will be supported by experience with Alcatel-Lucent, Juniper and Cisco. An understanding of VPLS (E-Lan), E-Line, DSL, Group protocols (VRRP, HSRP) and access technologies (E1, Fibre etc) would be advantageous.
