Salary: £54,000 – £66,000 per year
Senior Controls Engineer – Permanent – Cheshire – £45-55k DOE + profit related bonus
Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Cheshire based specialist engineering company to find a new addition for their controls team. We’re looking for a Senior Controls Engineer who has recent, demonstrable full project life cycle experience including writing PLC software from scratch as well as detailed knowledge of servo drives and motion control.
Key aspects of the Senior Control Engineer position include –
- Programming of control systems from scratch, ideally using Siemens TIA Portal
- Knowledge of servo drives and motion control packages – this is essential
- System configuration, including PLC and SCADA configurations to meet project requirements
- Limited travel / site work – estimate of 1 day out of 10 on customer sites – mainly day trips with very few visits taking more than 2 days
- You’ll be exposed to a huge variety of industries – they deliver systems for machine builders working in most areas of bespoke, special purpose machinery
- Production of project documentation including Functional Design Specifications, Project Specific Drawings, Design Risk Assessments & Test Procedures

This opportunity will suit a capable Controls Engineer who is comfortable dealing face to face with customers and has the technical ability to deliver small to medium size projects from start to finish.
The successful Senior Controls Engineer will need to be a “drives engineer” and know them inside out. This is vital for the role and will enable them to start the role and value within a short time.
The client’s premises are easily commutable from the following locations – Stoke, Macclesfield, Biddulph, Congleton, Middlewich, Sandbach and Crewe.
