Senior Care Assistant

We are delighted to be recruiting a Senior Care Assistant on behalf of a well respected charity organisation based in Bottisham. Situated just six miles east of Cambridge, the care home provides a range of support, with 48 beds in total for residential, dementia and respite care.

As Senior Care Assistant you will play an essential role in leading care staff members and will deputise for senior managers in their absence. You will have the ability to form positive relationships with residents, their families and professional colleagues.

You will demonstrate your commitment to good care practise by possessing a good level of practical experience of caring for older adults coupled with a NVQ 3 qualification in Health and Social Care. You will be passionate about working within the healthcare industry and will ideally have a background in care homes.

JOB PURPOSE:
To act as a senior role model and mentor to Care Assistants and provide support and supervision, staff development and appraisals.

GENERAL SCOPE:
– Organise and control other Care Assistants throughout a shift of work;
– Assist in the formal supervision of other Care Assistants;
– Respect the individual rights and choices of residents;
– Respond to the differing cultural values and diversity of residents;
– Ensure the health and safety of residents. Report any health and safety issues or equipment failures to your Manager;
– Communicate effectively with colleagues and managers;
– Provide personal care to residents with regard to their daily living needs;
– Carry out manual handling in accordance with training and in house policy;
– Assist residents to live a normal lifestyle including sleeping at night;
– Supervise residents at mealtimes ensuring that they have a satisfactory intake of nutrition consistent with their preferences and needs;

All applicants must hold a NVQ 3 qualification in health and social care and have eligibility to work and live within the U.K.
