Summary of role
The Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. You will beresponsible for assessing and analysing business processes, gathering and documenting requirements, and facilitating communication between stakeholders and development teams.
Through your strategic insights and collaboration with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the successful delivery of projects, driving efficiency, innovation, and the enhancement of products or services. Your expertise lies in translating complex business challenges into actionable plans, ultimately driving business growth and operational excellence.
Summary of Principle Accountabilities
- Responsible for understanding existing and facilitating the agreement of new business processes and detailed requirements.
- Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
- Identify and define the scope of the business analysis elements within assigned project(s) and assist the project manager in planning these activities, working with the relevant parties to provide an estimate of the effort/time/cost (S/M/L) required and any dependencies.
- Manage outsourced analysis activities, ensuring value for money and fit for purpose delivery.
- Seek out and tackle issues that will prevent the delivery of business benefits, facilitating open communication and discussion between stakeholders.
- Undertake research on relevant technologies to identify software that will drive efficiencies.
- Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs.
Brief person specification
Essential Qualifications
- Grade A-C GCSE in English and Maths or equivalent
- Business Analyst certification (BCS) or equivalent supported by a deep understanding of project management methodology and process mapping techniques such as BPMN.
Skills and experience
- Experience in analysis using tools like Excel, SQL, or data visualisation software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Proficiency in using specific software or tools relevant to business analysis (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Visio, DevOps) to manage projects, document processes, or track requirements.
- Proven experience of building great stakeholder relationships, leading, and managing investigation into business and technical processes, functions, information flows and data structures, selecting the most appropriate methods and approaches.
- Demonstrable experience of challenging the status quo and identifying solutions to problems that deliver business improvements/efficiencies and improve user experience.
- Ability to understand complex processes and system interactions, as well as their implications
- Ability to understand, explain and present complex business problems, at all levels of the organisation, in a persuasive and convincing manner.
- Confidence in questioning assumptions in a collaborative/consultative manner, and the ability to get to root cause.
