Salary: £150 – £228 per day

The opportunity has arisen for a SEN teaching assistant to join a well-established and sought after secondary school, with the role set to start in September. Although working mostly on a 1:1 basis, there may be the occasional support required with other students who require guidance in the classroom.

No day is the same and having previous experience in working with autistic children in desirable. To run alongside this it is important for the school to ensure the candidate is comfortable with managing behavioural issues, as a result team teach and Makaton are a desirable quality as the child needing support can sometimes struggle with communication. These qualities would be beneficial, in order to guide the individual in the best way and achieve a comfortable and thriving learning environment.

This is an extremely dynamic role that requires a fast thinking and adaptable mentality; it is incredibly rewarding to play such an important part in the life of a young person. With the right amount of organisation, management and control, you will be instrumental in the pupils development and academic progression.
