Secondary Process Operator / Machine Operator

PMP are recruiting on behalf of a prestigious automotive component manufacturer based in Corby, Northants. The company employs c.40 staff across a 2 shift system working Monday to Friday. Due to continued success in the marketplace they are looking to recruit for the following role:

POSITION:Secondary Process Operative/ Machine Operator

HOURS / SHIFTS: Fixed 2pm – 10pm Monday to Friday (initial 3 months on Days 7am – 3pm whilst training / probationary period)

REPORTS TO:Factory Manager

LOCATION:Corby, Northants

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Secondary Process Operative is required to control the production and ancillary equipment in accordance with the control plan/work instruction / specifications and procedures.

The position involves basic machine setting & machine operating, as well as all aspects of cosmetic pin cleaning (using a degreaser machine), scrap separating and sorting (by machine & by hand), using manual and automatic sorters.

The Secondary Process Operative is also responsible for all other types of sorting methods for coiled pins and tubular product as well as packing the finished goods ready for despatch.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The list of duties includes the competencies required by the Secondary Process Operative; the actual functions to be carried out will be as directed by the Factory Manager.

1.To receive WIP product from the various area’s within the factory and process in accordance to work instructions, routing’s and priorities from the Factory Manager

2.To clean (degrease) cosmetic pins and process these parts through the scrap separate and sorting operations

3.To set the various bowl types and monitor other sorting operations as required

4.General housekeeping

5.To ensure all routing stages are booked through transcollector

6.Other duties as required and directed by Supervisor

PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

Performance measurements included in the process job descriptions apply as well as:

1.Machines run at standard speeds

2.Product produced conforms to workmanship standards

3.Timely completion of all production batches, in line with the work schedule

4.Conforms to all safety and EHS regulations.

AUTHORITY:

To reject products which do not meet workmanship or quality standards.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED:

1.PC Literate

2.Counterbalance Fork Lift Truck Licence (desired but not essential)

3.Machine Operating, Setting & Material handling experience

4.Mechanical Aptitude – Bennett Mechanical test minimum pass rate 60 %

5.Mathematical proficiency – Wonderlic WPT test – minimum pass rate 20

6. Eye for detail & focused on Quality
