SEARCH MARKETING MANAGER

Context for Role
Following years of outsourcing SEO and PPC to agencies, our objective is to bring all performance marketing channels in-house. We are seeking a more holistic and coordinated approach to marketing, where we can blend and optimise investment to drive marketing ROI and business success, notably our key daily targets for sales leads and cost per lead.
A further key objective is to enhance our responsiveness to business opportunities, dialling-up / down spend, reacting to competitor and market opportunities, as well as optimising the throughput of leads through our sales operations.
The business has a fast growing database of over 700k accounts, this role should help identify ways to leverage this data including: targeting and re-targeting techniques as well as a stronger linkage into email, telesales and other direct channels.
The Role: Search Marketing Manager
Direct management of Paid (PPC) and Organic (SEO) search marketing (SEM)
To recommend and manage additional performance marketing channels, as PPC effectiveness plateaus, eg:Programmatic display
Facebook and other social media advertising
Content channels such as Taboola, Outbrain etc
Conversion rate optimisation (CRO)
Daily/ongoing reporting to colleagues on CPL, CVR and other ROI metrics
Recommend and select PPC, SEO and site traffic management tools to help steer strategy and improve success: eg SEMRush, MOZ, Microsoft Clarity, GA4, Meta Business Manager, Screaming Frog etc
Tasks:
PPC / performance marketing
Oversee budgets across Adwords, YouTube, Bing and other search marketing channels
Monitor KPIs and proactively recommend actions to build leads and conversion rate, including landing page relevance and page authority
SEO
Recommend technical, content and offsite updates to build organic traffic and underlying factors such as Domain Authority and Link rank
Tactically balance keyword performance across SEO and PPC strengths/weaknesses
Work with the development team to improve our content production and management capability, recommending CMS updates to mobilise content production
Work with the broader marketing team to recommend content topics, both on-site (page structure/ text /navigation etc) as well as offsite (PR, affiliate links etc)
Work with colleagues to maximise link equity from our extensive list of business partners
Competitor analysis to identify strengths/weaknesses
Create business targets and a reporting framework to demonstrate ROI
Working with marketing colleagues to recommend techniques to maximise our trust and authority, eg positive Trustpilot and customer review scores etc
Bring new ideas, helping shape our future strategy and process for brand management, and customer acquisition and retention
Type of person
Creatively minded and ideas-driven, with 3+ years marketing experience, including deep exposure to PPC and SEO as well as (ideally) experience of direct marketing, CRM, social media (organic and paid) and programmatic display.
Eager to get involved and share opinion, ready to spot trends in KPIs that necessitate action. You’ll have a decent portfolio of campaigns that you’ve helped build, including digital display and conversion rate optimisation across the user journey.
