In order to be a successful Head of Biology you should be an outstanding practitioner looking to take on more responsibility in a leadership role and begin the next stage of your career. You should possess a creative approach to teaching and motivation, and experience in a leadership role would also be advantageous. Most of all you should be an ambitious, approachable leader with a talent for getting the best out of staff and students alike.
For this Head of Biology you time will be split between leading Biology in KS3 to KS5, while also leading the Science as a whole in KS3. This is a school that takes Science seriously and is led by leaders who have been rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. Separating the Science Department’s leadership into three headships (Chemistry, Physics and Biology) is part of a new restructuring. As part of the Science department you will be managing staff and the Biology curriculum to ensure that everything is in place to continue the constantly improving results that the school sees year after year.
