Sales Specialist – Laboratory Equipment

An excellent opportunity for a Laboratory Scientist with the self-motivation & drive to enter scientific sales, preferably with a good knowledge of the regional science parks/hospitals/universities.
BSc/MSc educated with some post degree laboratory experience is preferred.
Experience selling laboratory consumables or equipment in this region is desirable.

You will be spending around 80% of your time travelling to different customer sites in this region, and around 20% following up on customer enquiries/quotations/booking appointments etc,

PRODUCTS: Laboratory equipment & instrumentation – autoclaves, balances, centrifuges, freeze dryers, microplate equipment, shakers, refrigeration, safety cabinets, microscopes

CUSTOMERS: Academic, Research, NHS Laboratories

TERRITORY: Midlands – key regions include Coventry, Leicester, Warwick and Birmingham

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Arrange and attend regular customer visits to promote the company’s products and services and always ensure a prompt and courteous response to customer requests.

– Ensure regular contact and a good working relationship with manufacturers and suppliers

– Attendance at exhibitions, conferences and seminars when required.

– Product sales quotations, send to customers promptly and follow up progress of all quotations.

– Maintain database with accurate and up-to-date information on customer notes and area overviews.

– Monthly sales forecast and prospect list, monitor your progress in comparison to sales forecasting.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

– 1-2 year’s experience selling laboratory products, reagents, consumables or equipment to a similar customer base is preferred.

– People with experience working as a Laboratory Scientist (preferably at Lab Manager level), who have the drive, motivation and commercial awareness to succeed in this role will be considered.
