Ruby Developer – 3 Month Contract – Central London

Our client; creators of a market-leading Platform to manage the workflows, quality control and content distribution of its global content creator network, currently seeks an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer to join their team on a contract basis.

They have a lot of exciting features they want to develop, and are looking for a Ruby Developer to help meet their development roadmap and speed up the global roll out of the Platform. You will have the opportunity play a lead role in the company’s growth, to have a real impact on the company, and to grow along with them.

Working under the CTO, The Ruby Developer will be developing on all of their systems, including their APIs and website, but mostly on the Platform – a bespoke content production & authoring system. You’ll relish setting a fast pace of development and leading from the front. Most of their code is in Ruby, most of which is in Rails – so you should know Rails pretty much inside-out, but experience with other languages and frameworks is a big plus. They’re big on Test-Driven / Behaviour-Driven Development, so experience with RSpec and continuous integration is pretty important too. It’s also a big help if you’re experienced with Amazon Web Services and RESTful APIs.

Ruby Developer responsibilities will include hands-on development – back-end, front-end, server-side, client-side, testing scripts, you name it. The team will collaborate on System design and architecture; working with the ops team to figure out requirements, writing user stories and estimating time scales.

The right candidate will have:
– Ruby, Rails 3+
– HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery
– Test Driven Development with RSpec
– Agile methodologies
– HTML5, CSS3
– Git

Any experience of the following would be looked upon favourably:
state_machine, squeel, capybara, jasmine, Sinatra, Coffeescript, SCSS, RESTful APIs, RSS, Capistrano, Resque, Redis or Cloud-based hosting.
