Salary: £28,800 per year

Our client, Foresters Friendly Society, is a well-established financial services company based in Southampton, Hampshire. They are a Mutual, which means that profits are distributed to their members through policyholder bonuses to their savings and investment plans. They have been delivering competitive and straightforward financial products for over 185 years.

To provide administrative support to their Risk and Compliance functions, they are now looking for a Risk and Compliance Assistant to join their team, covering maternity leave and starting in July. You will be responsible for providing day to day support with various aspects of the Society’s Risk Management framework and the Compliance function in accordance with changing regulatory requirements to support business needs.

Risk and Compliance Assistant, the role:

* To support the Chief Risk Officer with various aspects of the Risk Management framework, in particular various Risk Assessments and Conduct Risk Monitoring

* To support the Chief Compliance Officer with various aspects of the Compliance function, specifically the control of Regulatory registers and the completion of FCA returns

* To work with the Chief Compliance Officer in completing the Compliance Plan throughout the year

* To undertake Compliance audits on key regulatory or high-risk areas, assessing the risks and controls in the area being reviewed and produce a report on findings including appropriate recommendations. Monitor progress and follow up on recommendations made.

* Monitor compliance on a regular basis in various areas within the Society and provide reports or outcomes based on the findings i.e. Call monitoring, GDPR, etc.

* Keep up to date all Risk and Compliance logs such as Risk Events, KRIs, Policies, Complaints and Breaches. Understand the root cause of events that arise and monitor completion of closure of events raised.

* Complaints handling – acknowledge complaint within the required acknowledgement time frame. Investigate complaint and compile complaints file with supporting documentation. Provide response to complaint including resolution and Ombudsman rights within the investigation time frames. Respond to requests from the Financial Ombudsman.

* Compile and circulate reports to the Board and other Society committees as required.

* General administrative support to the Chief Risk Officer and Chief Compliance Officer.

* Assisting on projects such as regulatory change and development projects from a risk and compliance perspective.

* Keep up to date with regulatory changes and how this would impact the Society. Assist in implementing the necessary changes with the guidance of the Compliance officer.

Risk and Compliance Assistant, the ideal candidate:

* Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at grade 4/C or above

* Minimum of 3 A level passes (or equivalent)

* Preferably having completed introductory Compliance courses to demonstrate basic knowledge of regulatory compliance

* Relevant Risk and Compliance experience gained in Financial Services

* Practical knowledge of performing Risk and Control Assessments and Compliance Monitoring would be advantageous

* Must be able to extract and analyse data, and translate findings into clear and informative reports and presentations as needed

* High level of accuracy and attention to detail

* Strong problem-solving skills

* Able to work on own initiative and prioritise work to meet deadlines
