We are looking for compassionate and caring Relief Support Workers to join 2 of our services  based in Hayle and Connor Downs.

As a support worker, you’ll have the chance to engage in activities that you and the 4 ladies with learning disabilities, you’ll be working with all enjoy. Whether it’s going to the theatre, creating stunning works of art, cooking exciting and healthy meals, or taking scenic walks, you’ll always have an opportunity to connect with the people you’ll be supporting.
You’ll provide the emotional support and encouragement they need to develop important life skills, build strong relationships, and achieve their goals.
As a Support Worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service, you may be required to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week, including mornings, evenings, sleep ins and weekends (You will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £61.20 for any sleep in shifts carried out. The payment for sleep ins is non-contractual).

The best thing about flexibility is it is a two-way street, while we may require that you work a variety of shifts, we also understand that you’ll have your own commitments and we will try to factor this into our rotas.

What does a Support Worker do?

As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people we support live a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life.  You will have excellent communication skills and be a naturally caring and patient personality.  Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
  • Excellent communication skills and Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
  • Community & Social Inclusion – supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
  • Personal care – helping people to get ready for the day.  This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom.  Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.
