Location: Littlehampton

Salary: £30p/h – £35 per hour

Contract: On-going

To ensure that all nursing needs of the residents are fully met and that NMC guidelines are followed.

To actively participate in meeting the needs of the residents in such a way as to promote dignity and individualized care.

To actively participate with other members of staff in meeting the social and psychological needs of the residents.

To manage the home in a way that promotes the well being of the residents and staff.

Candidate expectations

Job Description.

1. To be responsible on a daily basis for the delivery of high standards of care to the residents and supervise the daily care process for the residents.

1. To carry out nursing care to meet the needs of residents, and actively participate in meeting their social and psychological needs.

1. To monitor the daily needs of all residents and act on any health changes accordingly.

1. To assume responsibility for a group of residents by being their named nurse and in partnership with the residents, relatives and the care staff, actively:

* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the residents’ needs.

1. To assume responsibility for the monthly update, or updates as required, of the care plans

for those residents designated as your responsibility.

1. To complete a daily record of care for each resident, and support carers in recording daily activities of care and countersigning the carer’s records.

1. Give supervision of care and training to staff in all aspects of their work through direct teaching and example.

1. To book GP as needed for the residents.

1. Inform relatives of any change in a resident’s condition. To offer support to residents and their relatives during times of ill-health.

1. To accompany visitors to the home i.e. other disciplines consultants, GP, dentist, optician, minister of religion, physiotherapist and show prospective clients around the home.

1. To promote the home in a positive manner when showing prospective clients around the home and recording information about prospective service users.

1. To attend staff meetings.

1. Ensure Health & Safety is maintained at all times for both residents and staff and to attend all mandatory training courses relevant to the position. Continue and observe NMC guidelines for the delivery of nursing care.

1. To give medication as prescribed with correct monitoring of drug, dose and time, ensuring medication is properly taken and documented correctly. To ensure that drugs are in appropriate supplies and record. To order drugs as required.

1. To attend training lectures and maintain CPD. To revalidate as required by the NMC.

1. Be aware of the home policies and attend management meetings as requested. Be responsible for assisting to update policies and procedures in accordance with regulations and guide lines.

1. In the absence of the senior nurse, to deputize for them at all levels and be fully aware of their responsibilities as per their job description, and be responsible to the manager/directors.

1. To keep the manager informed at all times of any changes.

1. To participate in the on call rota for the home
